The Marathon!

This is it! Thank you so much for your prayers and financial support! The money goes right where it’s supposed to. Hope for the Warriors is one of the most highly regarded and best run charities supporting veterans in the nation. The NYC Marathon thinks so, and that’s no small endorsement.

I’ll probably run slower than usual. I feel tired and out of shape, despite doing my best to train well for the race. I’m still really looking forward to it. Who knows how I’ll do. It’s all about crossing the finish line, sooner or later. That’s the prize. If you’ve never run a marathon, consider doing so. It’s an amazing experience.

I wrote a much longer post for tonight that I held back on. It described the state of our nation and churches per my view. I’ll leave it at that. It was wise of me, I’m sure, to let it remain unposted. It’s enough to say that I’m tired. My sense is that many reading this are nodding in agreement.

My prayer: “Lord Jesus, I run to pray and get back to the basics of life in You. I run to put my body where my faith is per Romans 12:1-2 and I hope that the little money we’ve raised would honor You and raise the hope and living conditions of veterans who have served our nation and their families. They deserve our best. I pray for the services at our church this weekend. I pray for the Gospel to come alive in the understanding of more and more people as it is demonstrated by more and more who claim You as Lord.

Lord, You teach us to run a good race. Help us with this! Your Word says…

Hebrews 12:1-3

[1] Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

[2] looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

[3] Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.

  1. I agree running a marathon is an amazing experience. Especially all the training that leads up to it. Praying for you tomorrow, and thankful that you’re doing this.
